When I first came across Carin's work, I fell in love with the harmony between the models and the waterscapes. Then, after learning that Carin's journey with chronic pain mirrored my own in many ways, I knew I wanted to work with her. Carin was first and foremost incredibly encouraging and has a gift for helping you feel at ease. She definitely understood where I was coming from in trying to make peace with my own body after years of feeling like I was at war with it. By the end of the shoot, I felt like a fae queen in her element, and that sentiment came through in the photos. I'm a deeply un-serious person and Carin captured all the moments I was laughing in between dramatic moments. She also encouraged just playing in the environment instead of posing, which allowed her to capture some really lovely moments. Overall, Carin enables an experience where you can find peace within yourself and see yourself in a different, less critical light.

A week ago, I had the honour and pleasure of spending some time with @swimawaythepain / @carinteresaphotography in the woods on the unceded lands of the Nipmuc, Wabanaki + Pocumtuc indigenous people.
We spent time in the waters, held by nature, as Carin invited in and then captured my internal spirit, heart and soul made visible.
Before the shoot, I expressed to Carin my fears this would take me out of my comfort zone of curated, covered up photos and I would be doing so when my body is the biggest it’s ever been. I was anxious, a bit scared and even tearful as I shared this with my partner hours before the experience.

Within moments, my fear turned to power. My trepidation into joy. My anxiety into pleasure. I feel the photo above captures this mix of feeling.
Looking at all the photos from the shoot, I feel a mix of emotions: mostly pride, a bit of shame sneaks in, and then awe comes through. My relationship with my body will continue to be complex, but doing things like this photoshoot helps me to repair the 40+ years of hurt and hiding.
It helps to reprogramme the patriarchal, capitalistic conditioning that left me disconnected and disrespectful of my body. It helps me remember that body neutrality, forgiveness, grief, love and acceptance ebb and flow, and that’s okay too.
I have a lot of gratitude for this experience, on this deeply emotional and meaningful pilgrimage, back to the complicated land where I was born and raised. I cannot wait to share these photos with you.

I was hesitant at first to do a photoshoot with a stranger, especially with minimal clothes on. It was something I'd never done before. However, the moment I met Carin, she made me feel incredibly comfortable! She was my #1 cheerleader as I posed, constantly letting me know what was working, and what needed some work, to make my photos the best she could get! My session was an absolute joy! She made me feel beautiful, seen, and wanted to make sure I was happy with the end results, listening to what MY vision(s) were and doing her best to make them happen. She gave suggestions and guidance, which is very helpful if you're not natural at continuously posing for your "close-up". However, I never felt pressured to do anything if I didn't want to do it. Carin is all about the vibes, and while she takes her job seriously, she also wants you to have FUN with the art you and she are creating together, art of YOUR beautiful self! She wants every person's experience to be enjoyable, and unique to them. When I got my photos back from her, I was STUNNED!!! Who was this GODDESS in the photos I was staring at? She sure looked like me! Not the “me” I saw in my mirror every day, but the “me” I wanted to see. The “me” that I felt buried inside, who I wished would come out once in a while. Carin brought that Goddess out, and captured her on film. Honestly, the pictures made me love my appearance a little bit more. Any time I look back on photos she took of my, I'm constantly thinking “Damn, I look good! I really am kinda beautiful.” Carin is open to so many different ideas, so you can really be free and yourself when having a session with her. You can be fully clothed, or fully nude! She also gives you time to change outfits if you'd like, or take a little breather without barking at you about wasting her time, or that you're eating into your own photo time. On a shoot with her in a river, when moving from one area of the water to another, her concern was only my safety when walking over slippery rocks. She kept encouraging me to take the time I needed, she just didn't want me to get injured. She is also very very understanding. She respects that we all have lives, and that sometimes those lives include emergencies or unexpected situations out of our control. If that should unfortunately happen, she is willing to work with you so you can still have your session together, even if not right away. Immediately after my first time with her, I wanted another photoshoot right away! I had a blast with her, and felt confident showing off my body, which is a big deal for me! I've had 2 experiences with her now and both have been wonderful! I even drove over 8hrs for one of them, I feel she is THAT worth it! Carin feels like a friend every time you see her, even if you don't know her well, and I have been thinking about the next photoshoot I want to do with her since leaving my last one. I cannot WAIT to collaborate with her more in the future. I have already recommended her to people in my life, and I would absolutely recommend her to anybody looking for a great photographer, or if someone is on the fence about booking with her. DO IT! You will have an amazing time, and be glad she was who you trusted with the precious memories she will be capturing.

Carin, working with you was truly a dream come true. You made me feel utterly beautiful and confident in my own skin. Your encouragement, support, and unwavering cheerleading illuminated parts of myself I never knew existed. Seeing the sneak peeks of the photos has left me in awe of my own strength and beauty, especially in this postpartum journey. Thank you for simply being yourself.

Carin is simply wonderful and extremely talented! I sent her so many photos conveying what I desired for the tone of my photo shoot and she went above and beyond to deliver the most incredible series of photos. So many people commented that they were magical and fairytale like – a vibe I really hoped to capture. I highly recommend Carin for her great eye and gentle spirited way in which she interacted with me and made this photoshoot an absolute blast!

Carin’s energy will radiate and you will feel more comfortable with yourself and the environment than you ever have. By far this was the most comfortable and best experience I have ever had. We were outside, in the water and in some very raw poses- I never questioned my body and my looks once. If you need someone to spark your confidence and truly give you the space for your inner beauty to shine through, she is your woman.

I have done a handful of shoots with Carin as a model and as a client. I have always had a hatred for being photographed. ever since I was a young child if a camera was brought out I would hide. I never thought I would ever have any ‘good’ pictures of me. Carin proved me wrong. I have never felt so beautiful and empowered. I never thought I’d be comfortable during a boudoir shoot but being in nature with someone who sees the beauty in EVERY body makes it all that much more meaningful, Carin will foster your feral side, your soft side, your sad side and your inner child all at once. she never once made me pressured. she hypes you up and guides you into poses with a loving and gentle manner of you want or if you have ideas or goals for a shoot Carin will give everything to help you meet them. I have never had the pleasure of working with a human being who has made me feel so powerful.
